Metallurgist - £negotiable + Pension - Scotland (Permanent)
My client is a well-established manufacturing business, specifically involved within the Aerospace industry, located in Scotland. They currently have a requirement for an experienced Metallurgist to join their niche team on a permanent basis.
The Metallurgist will specifically be involved in developing Technical and Metallurgical Projects from conception through to production, process modelling and statistical analysis. You will be responsible for selected customers/parts (as assigned by the Materials Engineering Manager) and will supervise the metallurgical aspects of the Company\'s products from raw materials to final processing, including development of new Materials and Processing.
The Metallurgist will be involved in failure analysis, in-house problems and Technical Report writing. You will carry out R&D programmes in conjunction with supervision of new materials and/or component shapes which may eventually become production parts. You will select and raise Purchase Specifications for raw materials which will give correct quality and properties to final product.
Applicants are required to have hands-on experience of Heat Treatment, Forging and Properties of a wide range of steels, nickel base Superalloys, Titanium alloys and other alloys. The right person will relish the opportunity to grow and develop in this role and will be confident in providing technical support to sales staff and potential customers to ensure my client can meet their specs.
All applicants must be degree qualified, specifically in a materials engineering or metallurgy field, be a team player, possess good problem solving skills and be motivated by technical challenges. You will have good general computing skills and strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical staff on-site and also customers when required. Ideally, you will have knowledge of PC, UNIX-based workstations and mainframe computer systems.
You will have the ability to apply knowledge to practical problems, arriving at decisions independently and communicating accurately, together with the ability to exchange technical experience at all levels within the Company.
An understanding of planning system, quality system and accounts system in order to liaise with production personnel, would be helpful for this position.
This fantastic role for a Metallurgist offers a negotiable salary (dependent on skills and experience) and a pension scheme. My client can also offer a relocation package should this be necessary to get the right person on board.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business and be part of an exceptional team. To apply to this position, please forward your up-to-date CV to Leanne McDermott, Aerospace and NDT Recruitment Manager, on:
